Celebrating Anniversaries

January 24, 2011

We celebrate anniversary to commemorate or remember the past events that happened in a certain day of the year. One year after that event we celebrate it, and each event we put name on it to be best remembered.  The most common anniversary is the birthday which obviously each of us has. Sometimes for practical and financial reasons we tend to move the celebration earlier or late. But, it's been an acceptable notion. Another one is the wedding anniversary which often celebrated by many married couples. For some the wedding anniversary is very significant for it marks the day they both said "I do" and "For better or worse, till death do us part".  It could also be celebrated to renew deeper commitment to one another.

For other people celebrating anniversaries are waste of time and money.  Some neglect it for many reasons...while others just ignore it.  In this world where economic crisis is being felt by majority, one question that I asked myself: Is it important to celebrate anniversaries? I don't know if this is the right phrase but, I guess it could be answered individually with different opinions.  For some people anniversaries are being celebrated with lavish parties and giving expensive gifts, regardless of their social status. There's no wrong with it after all it's your decision to celebrate it that way.  If there are undesirable circumstances that might occur later due to your heavy spending then you have to squarely face it.  You have to pay the price.  That's the sad part of it.  In fairness to some they really plan it ahead and separate a savings intended for the celebration.  It's a wise decision Anyway. For me there are many ways and alternatives to celebrate anniversaries or important dates too without spending much...and I believed you have it in your mind and perhaps consider and think about it guys. No matter what and how you celebrate it depends on you.

By the way yesterday was our wedding anniversary.  Hubby and I hugged and greeted each other, we thought of going to a spa but suddenly changed our mind LOL!..The rest is history.   Have a nice day everyone.
